“Retrofuture”, the theme of this year’s festival, is consistently put into practice at the opening, whereby indeed new paths are pursued. Outside retro and inside future? Or perhaps the other way round? It is no wonder that we are again drawn to Kleines Haus of Staatschauspiel Dresden. Where else do old classics and new dramatic forms merge so well?
As Artist in Residence, Kabuki teamed up with Lars Bartkuhn to exclusively present excerpts from the newly released album „The First Minute of a New Day“ live. This auditory experience will be enhanced by visual highlights.
The pupils of the Saxon State High School for Music “Carl Maria von Weber” have met with the Dresden musician Stefan Senf to prepare a very special composition for the DAVE festival opening. They rendered a new musical version of “Malédiction” by Franz Liszt. This exclusive cooperation is facilitated by the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden and was not solely prepared for the stimulation of our senses but also integrated into the school lessons of the pupils.
At the end of the evening, we will immerse into a universe of dark and ghostly electronica with the audiovisual live performance of the French duo L’Age d’Or. Decorated with symbolic images these futuristic rhythms release us into the night.
