Auch 2018 zelebrieren wir wieder soulful Schallplattenunterhalterkultur. Zwei Tage hintereinander wird unser Stammlokal Ostpol zum Schmelztiegel für Soul-Musik aller Spielarten. Und dieses Mal ist wirklich für Jeden etwas dabei:

Der Freitag widmet sich allem ab den 70er und 80er Jahren. Wenn der Love Train Philadelphia verlässt, springen wir auf. Der Weg führt quer durch die USA. Egal ob Muscle Shoals/Alabama, Detroit/Michigan oder New York City. Wir halten überall! Wenn man während der Fahrt das Fenster öffnet, kann es passieren, dass die ein oder andere Prise karibischer, afrikanischer und balearischer Luft unsere Ohren umspielt. Modern Soul, Disco, Boogie und Funk heißen die Anhänger des Zuges. Abfahrt ist Freitag, den 26.10. 22:00 im Ostpol.

Wem das ein bisschen zu viel nach Schlaghose und Pailletten klingt (keine Angst, es gibt keinen Dresscode!) und lieber die Krawatte etwas schmaler trägt, kommt Samstag auf seine Kosten. Das Stichwort lautet Northern Soul. Die aus dem Nordengland der sechziger Jahre stammende Subkultur schrieb es sich auf die Fahne, sämtliche unbekannte Musiker des RHYTHM AND BLUES und 60s SOUL aus Nordamerika unter dem Begriff NORTHERN SOUL zu vereinen. Der Ursprung der Digging-Kultur hat schon so manche Schätze ausgegraben, die man eigentlich eher Fat Boy Slim, Biz Markie oder Soft Cell zugeschrieben hätte. Am Samstag im Ostpol erfährt sie bei uns ihre ultimative Huldigung.

Same procedure as every year: In 2018 we will celebrate soulful disc jockey culture again. Two days in a row our regular haunt Ostpol will be the meltin‘ pot for all sorts of Soul Music. And this year a splendid time is guaranteed for all:

The Friday is all about the 70s and 80s. We say „all aboard“ when the Love Train leaves Philly. This train will call at Muscle Shoals/Alabama, Detroit/Michigan or New York City – almost everywhere! Opening the windows while the train is in motion, it may happen that some fresh Caribbean, African or Balearic waft will breeze along your ears. Modern Soul, Disco, Boogie and Funk are the coaches of this train called. The departure is on Friday the 26th of October at 10 PM at Ostpol.

For those that are not so keen on flared pants and sequins (no worries – there‘ll be no dress code!) and instead prefer narrow ties, Saturday will be the must go. The topic is Northern Soul. Coming from the north of England in the sixties, this subculture was devoted to unknown Rhythm and Blues and 60s soul artists from Northern America. Being the origin of digging culture, it unearthed a lot of hidden treasures that you would rather connect to Fat Boy Slim, Biz Markie or Soft Cell. On Saturday the 28th of October all the forgotten artists will receive their ultimate ovation.
